Chan grew up on a dryland farm in south-central Nebraska and now lives outside of Firth, NE with his wife Deanna. Chan and his wife are blessed to be the parents of 4 adult children spread out across the US. In college he studied agronomy, plant breeding/genetics and business. He has worked in agriculture his entire career across seeds, biotech traits, crop protection, water use and the whole system of agricultural production. This journey has blessed him to be part of teams to launch different products across the US and multiple other countries across the world. He currently is focusing his time on learning and navigating how plants and soil interact in the carbon accounting process to trace and verify low carbon intensity crops at the individual field level. At Gevo and Verity Tracking he works with a team to build and implement a digital tracking and measurement tool with farmers. This system brings both an economic and agronomic value to a farm and also positively impacts energy environmental challenges in our world.
